How Social Media Helps People Find Your Business Online

People search for places on Google, Maps and inside Instagram itself. How to make your pages easy to find for local customers and tourists.

“Best khachapuri in Batumi”, “manicure Vake”, “guesthouse Sighnaghi with view”. People search like this every day, and not only on Google. They type the same words into Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Maps, and they click on whatever looks active and trustworthy.

You cannot control search engines, but you can make it much easier for them and for people to understand who you are, where you are and what you offer. Here is how social media fits into being found.

Search happens in more places than Google

Many people, especially younger customers and tourists, now look for places directly inside social apps. They search a dish or a district, browse location tags, or open a friend’s tagged post. Others start on Google, see your listing, and then check your Instagram before deciding. Being findable means showing up with consistent, clear information in all these places.

Use words people actually search for

Social platforms read the text on your profile and in your posts. Use the plain words customers would type.

  • Profile name field: on Instagram, you can add a short description next to your brand name, for example “Nino Bakery | Bakery Saburtalo”.
  • Bio: what you are, the district or city, and a key product or service.
  • Captions: mention the dish, service and neighbourhood naturally, rather than only writing “Good morning”.
  • Languages: if many customers search in Russian or English, include a short line in that language too.

Write for people first. Stuffing captions with keywords looks spammy and is not needed.

Tag locations every time

Location tags put your posts on the map inside the app. Tag your exact business location on posts, Reels and Stories. If your official location does not exist yet, use the platform’s own tools to add or claim it. When customers tag the same place, their posts collect there too, building a visible gallery of real visits. Our guide to user-generated content explains how to encourage that.

Keep your details identical everywhere

Your Facebook page, Instagram profile, Google listing and any directory listing should show the same name, address, phone number and hours. Consistent details help people trust that the information is correct, and they help online services connect your different profiles as one business. Update all of them when anything changes, including holiday hours. Our article on Google Business Profile and social media covers this step by step.

Show that you are alive

A page whose last post is from last spring makes people wonder whether you are still open. Regular posts signal that the business is active, and they give search tools fresh text and photos to show. You do not need to post every day; a steady rhythm matters more. See how often to post for realistic numbers.

  • Post your current menu, prices or services, not only atmosphere shots.
  • Pin a post with the essentials: address, hours, how to book.
  • Answer comments and reviews, since public conversations also show that someone is there.

Make it easy for others to link to you

When local media, bloggers, tourism pages or partner businesses mention you, a working link to your profile helps people go straight from their article or post to your page.

  • Use a simple, easy-to-spell handle, ideally the same on all platforms.
  • Tag partners and suppliers, and ask them to tag you back.
  • Take part in local events, markets and festivals, and post about them with the event’s tags.

Start this week

  1. Add your main service and district to your Instagram name field and bio.
  2. Check that name, address, phone and hours match on Facebook, Instagram and Google.
  3. Tag your exact location on every post from now on.
  4. Rewrite your next three captions to mention the specific product, service and neighbourhood.
  5. Pin one post with your essential information.

None of this requires a marketing degree, just consistency. If staying active is what slips first in a busy week, SocialAI can keep your Facebook and Instagram updated with scheduled posts that you approve in advance.
